KC Flatwater Raid
KC Flatwater Raid was designed specifically as a flat-water boat. This K1 has had great success on flat-water marathon, winning the World Marathon Championships in 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2017.
It has good directional stability and an excellent sprint or maximum speed. It additionally has a high cruising speed, and requires little effort to keep it on a plane, which is crucial for a marathon boat. It can take a paddler of up to 90kg on flat water, and 85kg on river.
It has a V shaped hull from the nose through to the back of the cockpit. From there it becomes round and full, giving good volume. This prevents the tail from sinking into the water, alleviating the porpoise effect that can occur in boats and ensuring good speed through a turn.
