Lekker Kayaks Peregrine Touring Kayak
The Lekker Kayaks Peregrine Touring Kayak stands as the longest and fastest kayak in the Lekker line-up. It delivers surprising stability for its speed and provides ample packing space for extended expeditions. Its sleek profile makes it ideal for fitness training, but it truly excels as a flatwater and ocean touring kayak, built to cover long distances with a full load.
WHAT THE PEREGRINE IS ALL ABOUT
Hull design
- Surfski-inspired, the hull carries a full-length waterline that boosts speed and improves tracking—perfect for fitness training or extended trips.
- The bow slices cleanly through waves, yet its volume lets it climb over swells when needed, while also increasing front storage space. A shallow V with soft edges creates a predictable ride, and the rocker profile strikes the ideal balance between agility and tracking.
- The hull provides enough stability for most beginners, although we don’t market the Peregrine as an entry-level kayak.
- We fit the Peregrine standard with a rudder, with a drop-down skeg available as an option.
Deck design
- We designed the deck to include every feature a true touring kayak requires, while keeping it clean and uncluttered. The Peregrine is a lean machine built for performance and practicality.
- Its shape maximizes storage while minimizing wind sensitivity. Paddle cutaways in front of the cockpit allow efficient strokes close to the hull.
- Both the front and rear decks include 44 × 26 cm oval hatches that open into generous internal storage for long expeditions. A separate day compartment behind the cockpit is accessed via an 8” round hatch. All compartments seal with 50 mm closed-cell foam bulkheads.
- A moulded-in “lunch box” in front of the cockpit also features an 8” hatch for quick-access storage.
- As with the rest of the touring line-up, we provide two paddle holders: one in front of the cockpit with a bungee for easy securing, and one behind the cockpit for convenient stowing during re-entry after a capsize.
- The cockpit includes adjustable footrests, an adjustable seat, and an adjustable backrest, ensuring a customized fit.
- Additional features include a compass pocket on the front deck, a bungee system behind the cockpit for paddle float rescues, strategically placed bungee cords front and back, safety deck lines, toggle handles, and a security bar.
