Lekker Kayaks Osprey Touring Kayak
Lekker Kayaks Osprey Touring Kayak (430cm / 14’1″) is the shortest sit-in touring kayak in the Lekker line-up, yet it delivers a full range of features and surprising speed for its length. The stable, responsive hull combined with balanced deck volume makes the Osprey extremely versatile. You can enjoy it for messing around on a small lake, heading out on overnight trips, or playing in the ocean.
WHAT THE OSPREY IS ALL ABOUT
Hull design
-
The shallow V hull with soft edges tracks well when you paddle straight, while it stays highly maneuverable when you edge.
-
A generous rocker profile climbs over waves with ease and makes surfing swells a breeze.
-
The wider hull provides enough stability for even the most timid beginner, while impressive secondary stability inspires confidence.
-
Experienced paddlers enjoy the same features when they take the 430 into rougher environments, which the design easily handles.
-
The Osprey comes standard with a drop-down skeg, and you can also choose a rudder option.
Deck design
-
The sweeping deck lines showcase a classic touring kayak, but closer inspection reveals many thoughtful details. The design incorporates all key features without making the deck look cluttered.
-
Paddle cutaways stand out as a highlight, letting you maintain an efficient paddle stroke without hitting the deck. They also make the kayak feel slim and cosy despite the ample hull width and stability.
-
The front deck holds a 10” round hatch, big enough to fit most gear you’d want to stow in the bow. What doesn’t fit in the bow easily fits in the stern through the 440x26cm oval hatch.
-
Bow and stern compartments stay sealed with 50mm closed-cell foam bulkheads, secured with 3M adhesives.
-
A small 6” hatch in front of the cockpit with a moulded-in pocket keeps items like a phone or snacks within easy reach.
-
Two paddle holders increase convenience: one in front of the cockpit with a bungee to secure the paddle, and one behind the cockpit—especially handy when you re-enter after a capsize.
-
Bungee cords and safety deck lines round off the design, all positioned for easy access and reliability.
